Foodtalk is a new six-part SoundsDoable series starting on Newstalk on Christmas Day.

And like it says on the jar, it's a show all about food, and the people who produce, harvest, rear, cook and eat it.

Each week the show will eavesdrop on chef, Kevin Thornton and food blogger, Caroline Hennesy as they meet in Thornton's Restaurant to talk about everything from their food philosopies, to their latest finds at the Famers' Market.

Special super close up food recordings for the program were made by Chris Watson, with Kevin playing a variety of instruments, from the fish knife to the carcas of venison.

Each week, the conversation will flow around one class of food, from livestock to dairy to food that grows wild around the country
