In Praise of Darkness


The RTE Radio 1 drama, In Praise of Darkness, written by Luke Clancy and produced by Kevin Brew has been shortlisted for the 2010 Prix Europa.

The prize is awarded each year to the best European "radio fiction".

The production has also been nominated in Ireland for this year's PPI award, in the Drama category. Yikes.

Culture File on RTE Lyric FM

The first ever episode of Soundsdoable's new series for RTE Lyric FM will air on September 6th, from 6.40pm.

After that, we will be bringing bulletins every weekdays covering culture in its most expanded definition from exhibitions to books, haunted houses to haunting melodies, food to film.

Culture File is being produced by Soundsdoable for RTE's Independent Radio Productions programme, and will be presented by Luke Clancy.

Podcasts of each night's feature will be available from the RTE Lyric FM site at:

Foodtalk Gets World Food Media Nomination


Soundsdoable's BAI / Newstalk production, Foodtalk, is one of seven nominees from around the world for the Radio section of the 2010 World Food Media Awards, which will be presented in Adelaide, Australia in May.

Congratulations to presenters Kevin Thornton and Caroline Hennessy, to food recordist, Chris Watson, and to the many others who worked with us on making the series.

NEW: The Wine Geese

A new 4 part radio documentary series for RTE Lyric FM

Starting on Saturday, 11th July (5.30pm) Soundsdoable's new series, The Wine Geese, will be starting on RTE Lyric FM. Presented by Tomas Clancy, the show looks at the crucial role of Ireland in the global wine trade.

In the first episode, Tomas travels to Fountainstown, Co Cork, to meet wine historian and collector, Ted Murphy, and on to the vineyards of Leoville-Barton, to meet Lillian Barton, descendant of the great wine business genius, Thomas Barton, whose family still run the company that bears their name.


The Wine Geese is supported by the BCI's Sound and Vision scheme.
